Join Virginia FFA members in Richmond to share the story of agricultural education and FFA with Virginia's state leaders.

Prepare to Attend

Complete Agricultural Leaders Conference Training

Students planning to participate in Virginia FFA Day at the Capitol should attend one of the Agricultural Leaders Conferences offered in November.

These conferences prepare members to tell their FFA story, represent agriculture with confidence, and communicate effectively with elected officials and other leaders.

Chapters should plan for participating students to complete their training during the fall conference series. A make-up training opportunity is not guaranteed.

The information below reflects the 2026 Virginia FFA Day at the Capitol event and is provided only to help chapters plan. Hotel rates, parking costs, meal prices, schedules, and other event details have not been finalized for 2027 and are subject to change.

Use the 2026 information below as a general guide for budgeting and planning. Final 2027 information will be posted when available.

Lodging

The 2026 group rate was $190 per room .

In 2026, reservations were processed through the Capitol Day registration form.

Breakfast was provided by the hotel for overnight guests.

Parking

Hotel parking was $25 per night in 2026. Chapters were responsible for their own parking expenses.

The hotel parking height limit was 6'6".

Cars, vans, and minibuses could use nearby garages or surface lots. A card was needed for payment.

Full-sized buses required a City of Richmond temporary parking permit and signage requested at least three days in advance.

2026 Planning Information

Meals

Breakfast was provided by the hotel for overnight guests.

The 2026 boxed lunch rate was $15 per person .

Advisors should plan to set aside a lunch for their chapter representative when lunches are distributed.

Planning Consideration

Transportation

Chapters are responsible for planning transportation to Richmond and between event locations as needed.

Chapters traveling by full-sized bus should allow additional planning time for City of Richmond parking requirements.

What to Wear & Bring

Capitol Day is a professional advocacy experience. Students should be prepared to represent their chapter, Virginia FFA, and agricultural education.

Dress Code

What to Wear

  • Official FFA Dress is required for all students.
  • Student dress should meet all official FFA dress standards.
  • No hats or jeans.
  • Advisors should wear business casual or professional attire.
Recommended Items

What to Bring

  • Notebook or padfolio and a pen.
  • A snack for the day.
  • Leave bulky bags on the bus or at the hotel whenever possible.
  • Chapters may choose to schedule Capitol tours independently once the 2027 schedule is finalized.
