State Convention 2020

The 2019-2020 State Officer Team Announce the theme for the 94th State Convention!











This year the Virginia FFA Association will celebrate it's 94th State FFA Convention on June 15-18, 2020. This year's convention will be an exciting time for members, advisors, and guests from all around the state. The Virginia convention sessions are held in Burruss Auditorium. Convention hosts over 1,500 members and guests from all across the state.

Registration for the 2020 State Convention is due May 22nd. As in previous years, advisors will need to submit two different registration forms. One for registration, housing meals, etc. and the other for CDE/LDE participation.

There will be a $50 late fee for registrations submitted after May 22rd and an additional $25 per calendar day late fee will be assessed beyond the first day. Schools will NOT be allowed to add a CDE/LDE event to their chapter's events after registration closes May 22, 2020.

All on-campus housing changes must be made by May 27th at 5pm EST or no refund will be given.

Payment & Fees

Registration and Meals- $195/person

Registration, meals and on-campus housing (double)- $260

Registration, meals and on-campus housing (single) -$295

If students are participating in off campus contests - and are not paying for campus meals - (Ag Mechanics, Livestock Judging) will be charged an additional $10 for off-campus lunch.

Off Campus Accommodations: 

The Hilton Garden Inn in Blacksburg has offered a rate of $119 (plus tax,etc) per night for accommodations during state convention if your group decided to stay off campus. This rate includes breakfast.

All booking, payment, and fees for off campus housing must be made directly through the hotel. The above information is for reference only.


CDE/LDE Information:

​​**CDE/LDE Registration must be completed on**

1) Make sure the name at the top is your school name.

2) Click on the word "Registration" highlighted in blue. 

3) Register your students. One student on each line. One team per chapter for each event.

4) Schools will NOT be allowed to add a CDE/LDE event after registration closes May 18.

5) Each chapter may have one team per event. Please only register full teams. (Exception: State Horse Evaluation due to March Cancellation)

6) We will cross-check registrants for FFA membership.

All individuals must fill out the participant waiver form to compete. If this form is not brought with you to state convention, the team will automatically be disqualified.

Agriscience Fair Participants:

Agriscience Applications must be submitted online using the application manager by June 1, 2020.  Two hard-copies of the manuscript and application are due postmarked June 1st. All corrections are due to the State FFA office by July 3rd ready for submission to National FFA. 

  • CDE/LDE Items Due Before State Convention:
    • State Officer Applications - hard copy due postmarked June 1st, 2020.

    • Prepared Public Speaking Manuscript - due June 1st in PDF form electronically by 5pm (email to or postmarked by that same date.

    • Agriscience Fair - two hard-copies of manuscript and application due postmarked June 1st.

    • Agricultural Communications Proposals - an electronic copy of the media plan in PDF format (no larger than 20 megabytes) must be emailed ( by June 5th, 5 p.m. EST. A penalty of 10 percent of available media plan points will be assessed for any late submissions. If the document is not received seven days after the deadline, the team may be subject to disqualification. In addition, no chapter team changes will be accepted after June 10 for Agricultural Communications.

    • Agricultural Issues Portfolio - A copy of the issues portfolio is due June 5th in PDF form electronically by 5pm (email to

    • Marketing Plan - A copy of the marketing plan is due June 5th in PDF form electronically by 5pm (email to

    • Employment Skills - By June. 1 at 5 p.m. EST, participants will electronically submit the following in PDF format in SEPARATE files:

      • Cover Letter

      • Resume

      • A penalty of 10 percent will be assessed for documents received after the June. 1 deadline. If document is not received by seven days after deadline, the participant may be subject to disqualification. Submission of electronic documents in separate PDF files will be via email to

Registration: 10 AM-2 PM in Litton-Reeves


Housing:  Linens and Towels will be provided in All DORM ROOMS


Parking: You may Park in the Litton-Reeves lot ONLY while REGISTERING.  After registration when you are unloading you may only park in the Cassell Lot.  You may NOT park along WASHINGTON STREET. After you unload, all vehicles must be parked in the CHICKEN HILL LOT. State vehicles do not require a parking permit.  For non-state vehicles, permits will be provided in your registration packet.


Please read all information in the registration form and double check name spellings. Also, please let us know of any special needs, for example: handicap accessible, food allergies/requirements, diabetic (in need of insulin storage), etc.
