Middle School Agriscience Mechanics
OVERVIEW
The Middle School Agriscience Mechanics contest challenges students to explain and demonstrate
safety practices, read and interpret directions, identify and use basic woodworking hand tools,
select and use measuring devices, perform measuring skills, and solve problems.
EVENT LOCATION & TIME
The Middle School Agriscience Mechanics contest will be held at Virginia FFA's 100th annual State Convention, in June of 2026.
ELIGIBILITY
Individuals or teams of 3-4 from grades 6-8 are eligible to compete.

Practicum 1 - Questions and Problem Solving concerning Sander/Sanding
Practicum 2 - Determining materials needed and cost for a Wood Project
Skill - Students will prepare a wood project with given plans. Members will need layout tools and will draw cutlines on wood but will not cut and drill.
Tools - Pencils, straight edge (ruler), ruler, some form of 90 degree angle (square or triangle with a 90 degree angle)
