SAE(s):
For my SAE project, I work as a field scout. I ride around and look at different farmer's fields, identifying any weeds, insects, chemical damage, etc. When we come across a problem in one of our fields, we work with the farmer to try and figure out a solution. After checking on the problem for a couple of weeks, we will try to create a chemistry that can be sprayed on the crop to get rid of the problem. There are so many cool things about my job! My favorite part about my job is being able to work with farmers and getting to know what makes each farm unique!
Favorite CDE or LDE:
My favorite LDE is definitely Extemporaneous Public Speaking. This competition has not only been extremely helpful to me professionally, but has also helped me to grow personally. Before competing in public speaking, I honestly struggled a lot with stage fright. Now, three years later, I have come to enjoy public speaking, and it has helped me with a lot of the challenges I have faced.
Favorite FFA Memory:
My favorite FFA memory was becoming a Virginia State Officer! I wish I could go back and live through the moment when they said my name, all of the emotions were awesome! It was a very overwhelming moment, hearing my name being called up on stage, and then when it hit me after I walked off... I burst into tears!
Future Plans:
After my term as a Virginia FFA State Officer, I will be attending Virginia Tech to become an agriculture teacher. FFA has given me so much over the last few years, and I can't think of a more perfect way to give back to the organization that has made me who I am then teaching it. I want to give other students the opportunities that I was able to have, so that they can discover their passions for agriculture too!
