State Cattle Working Contest 


The youth cattle working contest develops youth skills in animal management and handling. Working as a team, youth efficiently process three stocker calves utilizing Beef Quality Assurance guidelines. Regional competitions are held in the spring throughout the state; the top teams from each region then compete at the State Youth Cattle Working Contest held in conjunction with the Junior Beef Roundup.



State Contest Date: Friday, April 19, 2019

Registration Deadline: Friday, March 15, 2019

Registration is $20 per team.

       Southern Piedmont - Friday, March 29, 2019 (15 team Max)

               - 10am at Southern Piedmont AREC Blackstone

       Southwest Virginia  - Saturday March 30, 2019 (15 team Max)

               - 9am Copenhaver Farms Meadowview

      Shenandoah Valley - Thursday , April 4th (15 team Max)

              - 9am Waynesboro Nursery Lyndhurst

      New River Valley - Saturday April 13, 2019 (20 team Max)
